Long Distance Cyclist? The WACanID Could Be For You 2015

UPDATE: THIS IS FOR THE 2015 RIDE FOR 2016 RACE INFO CAN BE FOUND HERE http://www.wacanid.org

The WaCanId Ride is a 6 –day cycling event around the International Selkirk Loop, a 350 mile route through Washington, Canada and Idaho – hence the name, WaCanId.  The 6th annual Ride will begin (Sept 15th – 20th) with one of our largest groups of riders participating from all over the US and Canada. The ride starts in Sandpoint, Idaho with the group traveling in a clockwise direction where they will be averaging 70 miles per day with a layover day in Nelson, BC.  The finish is in Sandpoint on September 20th. Their schedule is as follows:

September 15th – Sandpoint, ID to Ione, WA

September 16th – Ione, Wa to Trail, BC

September 17th – Trail, BC to Nelson, BC

September 18th – Layover day – riders are free to enjoy a variety of activities – hot springs, hiking, kayaking, fishing or just resting up for the home stretch

September 19th – Nelson, BC to Creston, BC

September 10th – Creston, BC to Sandpoint, ID

The ride is put on by six different Rotary Clubs from communities of the Selkirk Loop. These clubs provide SAG support for the riders, hauling their luggage with pickup and delivery to their lodging of choice, border crossing assistance, providing water and snacks, repairing flat tires and will even pick up a rider when they need a lift. In addition, administrative support is provided by the International Selkirk Loop. The ISL is a nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing international recognition to the area to enhance the economies of the communities along this route. This successful relationship has brought many cycling enthusiasts to the area over the years.

For more information refer to http://www.wacanid.org/  or you may reach me at the numbers listed below. If you wish to catch up with the group as they pass through your area for interviews or photos, please contact our office for their schedule. An image of this year’s jersey is attached.
