Join Us For a Historical Ride on October 8th in Wallace Idaho
Come join us for a fun-filled weekend of bicycles and history in Wallace Idaho October 8th (and 9th if you choose to stay the night)! Saturday will be an activity filled day with representatives from The Trail of the Coeur d’Alene’s and the Wallace Chamber of Commerce. (All food, beverages, and lodging will be your own responsibility. There may be special discounts etc. that we will be offered and I will post those as we get closer).
We will meet at The Trail of the Coeur d’Alene’s office located at 413 Sixth Street, Wallace, ID 93873 at 10AM.
The days events will start with Jon Ruggles of The Trail of the Coeur d’Alenes telling us what the organization does along with info about the Trail.
Then we will ride over to hear John Langellier talk about the Buffalo Soldiers at 11AM at the Melodrama Theater. The Buffalo Soldiers did a big trek from St Louis to Montana on bicycles prior to roads. The theater holds 75 people and would be great if we could fill the room! The talk should last about an hour. Once it is over it will be time for lunch!
We will ride over to City Limits Brew Pub, home of North Idaho Mountain Brew for lunch and beverages.
At 2 PM we will bike up to the Wallace Cemetery for special talks on miners, military, prostitutes, and prominence. As part of that they are going to dedicate a gravestone for an unmarked Civil War Veteran.
The rest of the time we can cruise around town or for anyone is up for it a group is going to ride up to Mullan which is 14 miles round-trip.
That evening there will be a dinner that we have been invited to attend (details coming soon). If you want to stay in Wallace there are all kinds of options, (will be posting those here and in the forum once created). We just need to let them know who is staying in town for dinner to ensure everybody has a great time. Jon even offered to let everyone store their bikes in The Trail of the Coeur d’Alenes shop.
If you choose to stay Sunday and are up for a few more miles of riding we will ride the other direction on The Trail out toward Kellogg and/or Cataldo. On the return trip to Wallace we can have a beverage at Wallace Brewing before heading back home.
