It is National Bike Month and I Rode Around the Coeur d Alene City Park
Over the last several years I have participated in Bike Month and the National Bike Challenge (May-Sept.) and this year is no different. It is the fifth of May and I have been out riding already for four days for a total of 75 miles. It has been fun too as I have a new phone mount for “Brittany” that I have been out using. This one is a short video of me riding around Coeur d’Alene’s City Park. There are a few bumps in the pavement that jog the camera a bit, but all in all I think it turned out pretty good. Going to do a few more and maybe start to include some personal commentary.
May is National Bike Month, sponsored by the League of American Bicyclists and celebrated in communities from coast to coast. Established in 1956, National Bike Month is a chance to showcase the many benefits of bicycling — and encourage more folks to giving biking a try.
Haven’t participated in the National Bike Challenge before sign up! It is a great way to get motivated to get out and ride more. Riding our bicycles makes us healthier and happier, plus makes our community a better place to live. It is also probably time to find a name for my road bike. My 10 speed 80’s era commuter is named Brittany, because that is what is says on the frame of the bicycle, my single speed 60’s Schwinn cruiser is aptly named Ol’ Blue, and my purple and black Cannondale road bike is…
So…if you have any ideas here is a photo of it for inspiration:
The National Bike challenge is a nationwide event uniting thousands of current bicyclists—and encouraging countless new riders.
Commuting Tip: One of the things I hear that discourages women from commuting to work by bicycle is that they feel sweaty all day. I carry these in my backpack (Burt Bees Facial Wipes) and use them as a quick refresher after a long hot ride. They are facial wipes, but they work fine for giving yourself a quick “sponge” bath in the restroom. Just don’t forget to reapply your deodorant, antiperspirants, or natural alternative you use. I have shared a link to my favorite the Pink Grapefruit, but there are others to choose from.
